With primary care under pressure to meet rising patient demand and frequently deliver more with less, Livi’s new care provision model offers an all-in-one clinical and tech solution to enable practices to operate more efficiently.

The new service from the UK’s leading digital-first healthcare provider, Livi, will serve as a ‘Virtual Practice Partner’ to Integrated Care Systems (ICS), Federations, Primary Care Networks (PCN) and GP practices across England. It combines clinical resources and appointment support with digital tools including patient app, remote monitoring, smart messaging and websites.

Digital access routes and technology solutions form an essential part of the UK Government’s long term plan. It aims to ensure that digital transformation plans enhance primary care delivery by improving access to vital appointments and joining-up care services to better plan for future patient needs.

By bringing together digital and in-person healthcare services across primary and secondary care, Livi delivers an efficient and personalised patient experience. The new model will continue to support QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework) attainment and reduce physical and digital DNAs (Did Not Attend).

Dr Bryony Henderson Associate Medical Director, Livi comments: “Our tools provide practices with practical and scalable digital services that can flex to meet the practice’s needs. We can help reduce the unnecessary 8am scramble with more appointment capacity; offload workforce pressure by providing clinical resources when it's needed most; and ensure patients are connected to the right care, at the right time with enhanced booking flows and other communication tools. The goal of all of this is to help practices impact and manage peak demand effectively.”

Livi will provide insights and reporting, as well as secure messaging services. It also works with established EMR systems such as EMIS and SystmOne to provide practices with a comprehensive technology suite that ensures care continuity and improved patient experience from the first touch point.

The all-in-one service provides:

  • Point of entry practice websites: best in class and follows NHS guidelines to drive online engagement, manage patient demand and support patients with self-help content and lifestyle advice

  • Digital consultation tool: enables practice GPs to seamlessly work in a physical and digital care environment

  • Digital capacity on demand: access extra clinical capacity via Livi’s 450+ GMC-registered NHS GPs delivering consultations, easily managed via Livi’s  user-friendly booking tool

  • Tailored patient app for NHS partners: enabling patients to easily book and manage appointments with the capability to message a Livi GP

  • Consultation reminders: Practices can send automatic reminders directly via text message and NHS app for physical or digital meetings, minimising no shows

  • Remote patient monitoring and patient questionnaires help monitor and capture crucial data on the health of their patients, and support QOF points attainment, thereby reducing unnecessary healthcare interactions

  • Secure messaging: Practices will be able to send bulk messages to specific cohorts of patients, allowing patient responses to be coded into your clinical system and support practices to reach underserved populations or those living with chronic disease

Jamie Griffin Head of Commercial NHS Projects at Livi said: “Livi already has a proven record serving over 1000 partnerships across ICSs, Federations, PCNs and practices. With 95% of patient cases solved in the first interaction, giving practices more time to focus on patients that need face to face support. With our new model we offer a unique and flexible solution for modern practices. Livi is the ever-present safety net that supports practices for surges in patient demand and short notice lack of staff. Our new offer can be dialled-up when practices need us most, and dialled down when practices don’t need the extra capacity.”
